Q School Day 2 Wrap Up

What a difference a day makes!  The wind blew on Thursday and the scores reflected it.  Anything around even par was a good score on either course today; especially the Stadium Course (SC).  The good news for the players is the rest of the week looks to be good weather, so the players got the worst of it today.  The PGA Tour card cut line stayed at -4 today, so anyone at even par or better is still sitting fine to make a move towards a card.  While no one has run off and done anything to secure a card; a number of players are now pretty close to having shot themselves out of the tournament.  If the weather the rest of the week resembles Wednesday's as predicted, then there should be more low rounds to come.  While -17 may not be the PGA Tour cut line, I still wouldn't be surprised if it got to -14 or -15.  A lot of that will become more clear when the leaders play the easier Nicklaus Course (NT) tomorrow.  That means someone sitting at +4 would need to play -18 on the next 4 rounds to have a shot; so I'm declaring anyone +5 or higher at this point to be out of the running for a PGA Tour Card and playing for Nationwide Status.

In a way, Friday could be the most pivotal day of the tournament because the leaders will be playing the easier of the two courses (NT) and will feel like they have to take advantage of that.  The lower half of the field will have to try and keep some sort of pace on the harder course (SC).  This could create some separation with the top third of the field.

Here are the Pre Tournament Updates.
