Loar Continues to Lead at Panama Claro Championship

Edward Loar has to be happy he took a forced week off from the PGA Tour to gain some practice on the Nationwide Tour.  At 8-under-par, he has a four stroke lead over Justin Hicks headed into Sunday.

Here are some notes from the third round:
  • The morning wave seemed to experience conditions that were much more benign and Kevin Johnson took advantage.  Johnson barely snuck into the weekend, but managed to shoot a 7-under par 63 to move from T59 to T3.  He made six consecutive birdies on the front-9, before cooling off on the back.  One other note, Johnson had the lowest final round in the first Nationwide Tour event of the year.
  • There are three former Clemson Tigers in the top 10 as Kevin Johnson (T3), Matt Hendrix (T3) and Charles Warren (T9) are all putting together a nice showing.
  • Everyone with the exception of Loar who started the day in the top 9 shot over par in the third round.
Check back tomorrow to see if Loar can hold on and win or if one of his chasers can get the better of him.
