Puerto Rico Open Fantasy Preview

The Puerto Rico Open does not offer a Yahoo fantasy game this week, so all of the attention will fall on the Golf Channel's format.  Being an opposite field event, there is generally a high number of rookies, Q-School grads and Nationwide Tour grads mixed in with veterans who are having a tougher go of it lately.

That said, here's the Golf Channel fantasy preview:
  • Group 1 - Brandt Jobe - Jobe had a solid week at The Honda last week and finished tied for seventh here last year.  He also had a front row seat for Woods' final round 62, so maybe some of that will wear off on him.  Kris Blanks would also be an intriguing play here as would Brendon De Jonge who knows how to roll off some birdies.
  • Group 2 - Kevin Stadler - Stadler has played a ton already this year, so I'm a little worried about his stamina.  That said, every week he's finished higher than the week before and the most recent was a top-10 finish at The Honda.  Two-time champion Michael Bradley is also in this group and has to be considered as well.
  • Group 3 - Vaughn Taylor - Taylor contended at The Honda after Monday Qualifying. He's also a really good putter, so if he hits enough greens, he should be a factor. He kind of fits the mold of some of the past winners here.
  • Group 4 - Lee Janzen - This is the shot-in-the-dark category and my dart landed on Janzen.
Best of luck in your fantasy game!
