In my mind, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott and Bubba Watson all have a case for being the favorite this week. As this is a major, there is absolutely no reason not to burn a big name and play the best player in a OAD format.
I burned Bubba at Doral and was rewarded with a solo second. It just so happens I burned Scott at the WGC-HSBC, and the reward was not so nice.
That leaves Day and Spieth. All signs point to Day this week, so I'm going with Spieth. There's just too much pressure on Day's shoulders, which is ironic since Spieth has the "pressure" of defending. Day has never won a Masters, but has a second and a third. He's also the most recent major winner (2015 PGA) and won the WGC-Match Play two weeks ago. He checks every box.
That's exactly why I'm going with Spieth. He's played the Masters twice and has a win and a runner-up to show for it. He unlocked the magic formula to Augusta National very early on, and there is no reason not to think he will be in the mix this week.
Best of luck to all!
