Deutsche Bank Championship - One-and-Done

The Deutsche Bank Championship tees off in just hours, and it's time to declare this week's one-and-done selection.

For the first time all year, I actually took a look at how many options I have available that are currently inside the top 25 in the FedExCup standings. The good news is, I have just enough options to make it through.

This week I'm burning a stud, who happens to be a defending champion rounding into form. That's right. Rickie Fowler.

I'll have my Puma gear on this weekend! Actually, not really. Don't own any. But I will be wearing orange on Saturday night when my Clemson Tigers take on the Auburn War Eagles.

Go (Clemson) Tigers, and go Rickie!

The Barclays - One-and-Done

With The Barclays teeing off in a matter of hours, I'll keep it short and sweet for the one-and-done.

Of course, we've reached the point in the season where strategy matters. I'm not chasing by much, so I'm playing it safe. By safe, I mean the best available player. For me, that's Louis Oosthuizen.

Let's go King Louis!

Wyndham Championship - One-and-Done

The Wyndham Championship means that there are a mere five tournaments left in the PGA TOUR season. We are in the stretch run of the OAD, and it's now all about strategy.

I'll start by saying I'm taking Jim Furyk, and then I'll back into why.

  • I sit third in a very large league, and maintaining position is very profitable. Furyk is a steady pick.
  • In some regards, he's my best available option. My chasers won't get excited about the Furyk pick.
  • Furyk is well down the FedExCup standings, and a deep run in the Playoffs isn't as likely for him as it is for several others I have available.
  • More important than the Playoffs, he's very motivated to make a final Ryder Cup statement. Being injured the first half of the season, he's chasing.
If I were chasing, I'd roll the dice with a Jon Rahm or Wesley Bryan.

Best of luck to all!

John Deere Classic - One-and-Done

The John Deere Classic returns a number of familiar course horses, and we've tabbed one of them for this week's one-and-done.

Zach Johnson hasn't finished worse than third at TPC Deere run in his last five tries. I've saved him for this moment, and I'll burn him in this moment.

Let's go Zach attack!

Travelers Championship - One-and-Done

The Travelers Championship is hours away from kicking off, and here is this week's One-and-Done selection.

On the heels of Jason Day's runner-up pick at the PGA Championship, I've vaulted into third out of about 95 in my game. While I'd love to continue the climb, third place is a nice payday. My options at the top are fairly limited, but I found a surprising gem.

I'm taking Webb Simpson. He's played well the last two months, tying for 13th in the PGA Championship, and is a perfect 6/6 at TPC River Highlands. He last played the Travelers in 2013, when he posted a personal-best T5.

Here's hoping the putter behaves!
